Can someone provide some travel tips for Nepal tour?

My parents are planning to go to Nepal in the first week of June. They will cross the border from Sunauli-Bhairwa. I have heard that there will be a cautic situation there and sometime it would take an entire day or more to cross the border. Is it true? They are not going with any tour or something but on their own. Any suggestions, comments?

Also, any tips regarding -

Places to see.
Do’s & Don’s
Trasportation
Things to buy
Places to stay etc while in Nepal would be helpful.

  2. May be this link can help you – http://exoticbuddha. com. It is a travel portal that has information about travel in Nepal that you have looked for.

  3. It is not like that, however, sometimes due to security purpose it takes time while at crossing the Sunauli Boarder. And it is done to control the cross country terrorism and unauthorized trafficking of human beings mainly Nepalese girls to India and abroad.
For an aged gentlemen this is not a matter of concern and anxiety. People in all the offices in the boarder are helpful and will show you the right way to follow for the travel.
I would suggest you to send email to Nepa Travels or President Travel the famous travel agencies to know and to arrange your visit here and also if interested from Nepal Tourism Board and by the travel agencies so as to make more meaningful visit. You can find out different booklets so that you can adjust your time, budget and places to visit.
I don’t think all details through this answer is sufficient so try to surf some webs through the help of Google or any. You will find Nepal like your own state and helpful people and do enjoy. Good Luck.

  4. Thanks for the visit that you’re going to make. Nepal is full of natural resources like Mountains, Vallies, Rivers & Lakes, Jungle & Wildlife resorts and lots more.
Please visit the site http://mounteverestandtrekkinginformations. blogspot. com/
There are different topics included within the site about Nepal and other travel informations that will actually guide you and help you to find more about your answer in detail. Thank you. . .

  5. There will be no problem at border unless you have carried some contraband, fake currencies, or if you act smart with the security guys. . Nepali guys are cool. Its on the Indian side they create a problem, and it is not for other reasons — but only to get some small time bribe if possible.
So, if at all, there is a problem, if your parents are not very idealists, stuff some 50/100 rupees in their bardi and they will not create any problem. .

    Okay now:
Places to see: Kathmandu and around Kathmandu like Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Kakani. Of course your parents might want to see the religious places like Pashupati, Swayambhunath, three Durbar squares and that’s it in ktm

    Go for a mountain flight.

Outside KTM go to Pokhara — there are lakes and hill stations there.

    Do’s
    - tour around, buy souvenirs, go to casino, tip the brokers, helpers, waiters, cab drivers etc.

Donts- act smart, walk in alleys after dark, go too far away without confirming transportation, defy bandhs.

Transportation: For short routes use a cab or walk ,, For long routes use a tourist bus

    Things to buy:
Thangka (special gold painting), pashmina, artefacts, garments, handicrafts

Accomodation: if you can afford don’t stay around Thamel — stay in River hotel, Vaishali hotel around Putalisadak etc. High class accomodation Hotel Hyatt, Annapurna, Shankar, Yak and Yeti etc,

benefit through cultural exchange and learning from one another. There is
also the opportunity to explore Nepal further and see the stunning and
diverse landscape that makes up this unique country.

Below I have provided some more information on volunteering with Volunteer Venture
Nepal. Please don’t hesitate to contact myself or any other Volunteer Venture Nepal
staff with any more queries or for further information.

Volunteer Venture Nepal offers volunteer placements to people from all over the
world in the field of Teaching English, Health and Sanitation,
Environmental Awareness, Cultural Exchange and assist Orphans. We placed
over 132 volunteers from 32 countries in various projects. The Volunteer Venture
Nepal currently has volunteer opportunities available in several parts of
Nepal. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of
educational and community aid programs. This will give you a chance to make
an important contribution to the people of Nepal and while doing so gain an
in depth experience of the country and its culture, that will stay with you
    the rest of your life.

    a) Teaching English

The primary purpose of the Center is to offer community youth the
opportunity to develop their English language skills and to give the
young people a beneficial and positive way of spending their time rather
than taking up drinking, smoking or gambling. Alliance  Nepal’s Resource
Centers offer English language instruction and cultural interaction to young people and
adults in the community. Ultimately, the philosophy is that improved
language skills will lead to employment, particularly in the
Pokhara tourist areas as well have enormous advantage in any further
education: English language is the medium for tertiary education in
Nepal. Being able to consolidate classroom knowledge with a native or very
good speaker of English is an enormous advantage to learning English and
learning about cultures is also enriching and important.

    (B) Environmental Awareness
Volunteers will teach environmental awareness at the local school
and/or Environmental Post for 2 to 4 hours each day, Sunday through Friday.
Environmental awareness projects will be defined by the individual
volunteers based-upon their areas of expertise and the needs of the village
community. Example projects include:  creating “green” clubs, planting a
flower garden, planting trees, garbage management, recycling programs
making a smokeless stove, building a toilet pit, etc. Volunteers may also
provide assist to youth clubs or women’s groups in the community sharing
their ideas, skills and knowledge about environmental issues. After completing the
Nepali language and cultural training, volunteers will  be placed with
a Nepali family in one of the program villages. The host family will live
no more than one half hour from the school/Environmental Post AllianceNepal
local co-ordinator will be helping to volunteers. .

(C)Cultural Exchange &  Home stay Program
Home stays and cultural exchange programmes can be arranged in most
areas of Nepal with our 27 Host families. Participants will be placed with
a Nepali family in a small rural village for the duration of their stay.
This provides the volunteers with an excellent opportunity to learn about
all aspects of Nepali culture, lifestyle, language, food and people.
Volunteers should remember that this is a cultural exchange and that an effort to
offer some knowledge of their own home culture and customs to the family
withwhom they stay is appreciated. During their stay, volunteers will attend 2hours
of language lessons in the morning and in the afternoon. They will also
have the opportunity to visit and help out at the local school. Home stay
programmes are best organised from August to December which is the time
when most large local festivals take place. This makes for an overall more
exciting experience for the volunteer. Nepali culture is distinctively
friendly and open and participants are made to feel as though they are part
of the family. Alliance Nepal local co-ordinator will be on hand to help
    volunteers.

(D )Teaching various subjects in Schools

In this program, volunteers teach various subjects at theirs choice at
government schools to students of varying age and ability, although
most students are aged ten to sixteen. Depending on the school, volunteers
    will either t
