Despite Rain, Seattle Remains A Top Travel Destination
While Seattle is often given the dubious honor of being the wettest city in America, a look at the statistics of rainfall in the country, clearly shows that this metropolis of the North West is the victim of a bad reputation. More than forty different cities in the U.S. high annual rainfall of Seattle thirty-eight inches, including New York City, where the annual rainfall dump an average of nearly four feet of rain in the streets of the Big Apple. One of the top draws the Aviation Museum in Seattle, where visitors can admire more than 50 full-size aircraft and an exhibition area covering the history of rockets and space. Exhibition Space, which opened in summer 2007, chronicles all the pioneering work of Robert Goddard’s rocket space flight and lunar landings and movements of robots Spirit and Opportunity on Mars’ surface. No matter when it rains in Seattle, chances are good for the Aviation Museum offers a dry dock and a welcome break from the elements. With the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, the doors of the museum open seven days a week 10:00 to 5:00! Museum of Aviation is not the only fun way to spend a rainy afternoon in Seattle. Not far from the Space Needle is the Experience Music Project, a performance of multi-million dollar interactive tells the story of popular music in America. Another popular destination, the Wing Luke Asian Museum, chronicles the important role played by Asian immigrants in the construction of the Pacific Northwest. Whatever you’ve heard of gray skies and gloomy in Seattle, there is still much to do on a rainy day, making the Emerald City one of top U.S. destinations!
