Is the Turks & caicos islands a good travel destination?

Me and my family want to take a vacation to the caribbeans this year and we need to know if it is a good vacation destination. My sons are 15 and 10, is this a good place to take them. If so could you please state some good resorts or activities. If not could you please tell us which other spots in Caribbean would be more suitable for my family?? Thanks

  1. We just returned from a cruise that included a stop in Grand Turk. WOW! Beautiful snorkeling, although there’s not a lot else to do on the island. Don’t know about Providenciales.

You might want to consider a cruise. . . .

  2. I haven’t been myself but have a friend who was. . . beautiful island but very expensive and other than snorkelling and other water sports not a lot to do. If you’re ok just relaxing and have the $$ go for it. However if you want to save a little money and have more to do I’d do Mayan Riviera in Mexico they have tonnes of great day trips. If not interested in Mexico due to recent issues there are lots of other islands with things to do and cheaper then Turks & Caicos. Cuba has great history, Panama is good for day trips to – the canal, rainforests. St. Lucia I think is a good one too although pricey as well as Aruba; lots to see, very arid desert non-tropical island but beautiful and amazing beaches. Hope this helps.

  3. hummmm. OK Atlantis is great family fun in the Bahamas. The US Virgin Islands are pretty cool too. Someone said Playa de Carmen south of Cancun, yes lots too do there, great beaches, ruins to expore ect. Even Cancun itself is great, lots to do.

  4. Been there. . . The island is really small not much to do.
    Go to Bahamas instead

  5. I just took my twin girls 13 and son 15 and wife to Salt cay, smallest of the Turks and caicos Island. The wife and I were already certified, but took the kids for a discovr scuba course. Fantastic. The entire family had the time of their life. Kids can roam around free like the donkeys and cows through the streets, no crime, no problems. Friendly people. Fishaing, kayaks and fantastic snorkeling from the beach. Don’t go to Providenciales, the big island unless you want lots of touristy things to do. For an adventure, go Salt cay, eat at Coral Reef, fantastic Conch fritters, but you need to love outdoors caust there resorts have NO TV! we loved it
